چکیده

This paper analyzes the automated negotiation process between two competitive agents in an alternating offers negotiation model. Generally speaking, the outcome of a negotiation depends on some parameters—the agents’ reservation prices, their attitude toward time and the strategies they use, etc. In most realistic situations, it is not possible for agents to have complete information about all these parameters for its opponent. However, it is general for agents to have partial information about these parameters for its opponent. Under such uncertain situation, our aim is to determine how an agent can exploit the available information in selecting an optimal strategy which maximizes its expected utility. Here, in particular, the optimal strategies are determined considering time constraint. Moreover, we set the concession constraints for each agent to assure the negotiation process is continually shortened. This design can assist researchers in AI (Artificial Intelligence) to construct software agents, where these intelligent agents can optimally negotiate on behalf of users in a given state of knowledge and context. 

Generating Pareto-Optimal Offers in Bilateral Automated Negotiation with One-Side Uncertain Importance Weights

Pareto efficiency is a seminal condition in the bargaining problem which leads autonomous agents to a Nash-equilibrium. This paper investigates the problem of the generating Pareto-optimal offers in bilateral multi-issues negotiation where an agent has incomplete information and the other one has perfect information. To this end, at first, the bilateral negotiation is modeled by split the pie g...

Alternating Offers Protocols for Multilateral Negotiation

This paper presents a general framework for multilateral turn-taking protocols and two fully specified protocols namely Stacked Alternating Offers Protocol (SAOP) and Alternating Multiple Offers Protocol (AMOP). In SAOP, agents can make a bid, accept the most recent bid or walk way (i.e., end the negotiation without an agreement) when it is their turn. AMOP has two different phases: bidding and...

Interdisciplinary Approach to Automated Negotiation: a Preliminary Report

Autonomous agents with negotiation competence are becoming increasingly important and pervasive. This paper follows an interdisciplinary approach to build autonomous negotiating agents by considering both game-theoretic techniques and bargaining procedures from the social sciences. The paper presents a generic model that handles bilateral multi-issue negotiation, describes equilibrium strategie...

Argumentative alternating offers

This paper presents an argumentative version of the well known alternating offers negotiation protocol. The negotiation mechanism is based on an abstract preference based argumentation framework where both epistemic and practical arguments are taken into consideration in order to decide about different strategic issues. Such issues are the offer that is proposed at each round, acceptance or ref...

Managing Information in Automated Bilateral Negotiation

Negotiation between two trading agents is as much an information exchange process as it is an offer exchange process. To avoid the problems of natural language understanding, this information is represented in predicate logic and organised into lattice structures. The negotiation process aims to reach informed decisions in eMarket bargaining by integrating the exchange of offers and the acquisi...
